prep
I'm all packed, don't know where I'm going. Somewhere Florida, Georgia, South or North Carolina. I told the Red cross I can go on the 10th because I have a dentist apt on the 8th, and a cardiology apt on the 9th. today or tomorrow I will find out where they will send me. somewhere where Helene hit, or Milton maybe. I was told to plan for sleeping in a staff shelter on a cot, so I have a matress pad and sleeping bag liner, towel, some food. I can't find my badge but Laura says it can be replaced.
There was it confusion before I left. I wanted a second copy of my badge to put in the pocket of my vest. At first I really couldn't find my real badge but Paul help me find it in a nice safe spot where I put it. I went in and got the badge replaced by a very nice lady by the name of Jane. I told her I had to leave because I had a dental appointment and when they called me I would come back after the appointment. They never called but somehow were under the impression I was just going to come back after my appointment. So by the time I called them back they had left for the day. The next day I found out I was assigned to dr215-25. There are lots of issues there.
I haven't gotten the phone call but was able to book my flight. I'm on American at 06:45am and arriving around 2:30p. There is food to buy on the plane. Paul advised I buy something at airport to take with. Don't know yet how I get to work site from the airport.
I picked up my mission card. It has 550. Dollars on it. I was told to take out 200. before I go. Silly me, I let the machine decide in what bills to give me the money and they gave me twenties and $100 bill . Had to get change. I should be getting a text message or email or both from sheltering and transportation and what to do once I arrive at the airport in Charlotte sometime before I land tomorrow. I got today's info and it is pretty complete. Here is a sample.
So if tomorrow's report is as complete I should be in fine shape.
This evening I did my last minute packing, charged 3 batteries. Paul couldn't fix the old travel computer to go with so I will live with my tablet. I packed 3 apples and blue berries along with my bars. Washed the bed, and the dog. I got travel locks because I was advised to keep luggage locked in the shelter. Just cuddling with my dog while Paul went to spin. My left knee is still aching so I thought it best not to go.
