Oct 18

It's a frosty morning.
Mary and I went to do laundry and met a road crew from Tennessee.
Then we went to get coffee for our co-workers. I got a call from Fran at headquarters and I'm being reassigned as well as Rhonda and have to be in Asheville tomorrow by 9: 30am. I have to bring all the DHS supplies with me back to headquarters. It's a lot of stuff. So I'm dropping Mary back off at the house to sleep then I get to go exploring.
I stopped at the Christmas shop
We have been seeing it every night. All lit up on the way home from the shelter. I had to stop by.
Next I went to waterfalls Park. Apparently that's the same park I saw the other waterfall in.
But I got a much better view. It's 11:30 now so I'm going to go get myself and Cindy a salad for lunch from the hospital salad bar.
From there I hung around at the shelter and had my lunch. Hoping I could sit with Cindy and the other people but Cindy was in a meeting with someone. She told me to call transportation about the vehicles because both Rhonda and I have cars. She would like us to leave one of the cars here. I loaded up my car with all of the DHS supplies. I think there's room for my luggage and Rhonda's but she'll have to look at it and make sure that it fits when she wakes up, because she worked last night.
So I think I will drive to Banner Elk to look around and see the ski resort. I tried to stop at Grandfather Mountain but they have the facility closed and their workers are working in the community.
So I tried to drive to Banner Elk and it's twisty mountain road and I was driving through a leaf tunnel and it was kind of cool but kind of stressful.
And I got to see a deer
it said I had another hour and a half to get there so I just turned around after half an hour. It was going to take too long and by the time I got there I would just have to turn around which would be 3 hours of driving and I didn't want to do it. On the way back I tried to stop at a pastry shop but they were not open. They were guessing 2 weeks. Then I tried another pastry shop and they were not open. So I just got gas and came back home and loaded my car.
Transportation wants Rhonda or I to leave our car here for the other people. So she thinks she can fit her stuff in also. The car is really loaded because of all the DHS stuff. We were thinking we wouldn't be able to go out to dinner as a group. But now it looks like it might be possible. We're thinking of going to a restaurant named Cranberry.  We ended up at Puerto Nuevo. I ordered a shirt for a souvenir.
We did it, we closed the shelter
