Oct 20 2 comfort stations
I woke up around 6 :00 and went to the gym and did a half an hour on the bike and then the elliptical. It felt really good.
Then I showered and got ready to go to my first assignment. It was really amazing to be clean and put lotion on and feel like a girl.
It's 41 outside. My first assignment is at a parking lot with the national guard at 85 tunnel road from 9:30 to 12:00.
Well this site has 65 porta potties. None that are handicapped. They have two clothes washing trucks and two shower trucks. There's a lot more red crossers here and a lot more national guard. It's an office Depot parking lot and all the restaurants are open on restaurant row on Tunnel road. Hopefully I can get a salad there before I head over to the other site. There are the phone chargers and internet here as well as a warming tent. Someone told me that whole foods is open. I think that'll be my lunch spot.
There seems to be quite a bit of staff here. I put the blankets on the tables as Rustam directed me to.
Then I kind of just sat and socialized. But I'm here and available. That's what they want.
I picked up lunch at whole foods and headed over to the other site where I was yesterday. There's a few more Red Cross staff here.
Some supply guys came by to restock us and noticed we have not given away much. He thought no one knows we are here. I went over to the closest Walmart to see if the mgr could let us post a sign, or announce over head that we are here. Nope. I tried Lowe's, they are more receptive and took the flyer. They copied some and will distribute them.
