Oct 19 leaving Newland to

Today I leave Newland and have to return to Ashville to unload the DHS supplies and receive a new assignment. When I drove up here it took 2.5 hrs, but Google says it's only 1.5 hrs to get back. I guess some road has been repaired.  I work to about 6 and Cindy came in to say goodbye. She actually gets a day off today.  It's 7am and Rhonda is not up. I really hope she is ready on time.
I put my stuff in the car and turned it on to start defrosting the windows. There's ice again. I went back in the house where it was warm and let it defrost for 20 minutes. It was perfect. Rhonda and I drove down towards Asheville. We stopped at waffle House for breakfast. Got to clear the air a bit. When we got to the Ashland office, we both met with Fran individually and she gave us new assignments. We wrote accommodation letters for AJ who is single-handedly managed the shelter from the first day of the flooding. He's a remarkable man.  I am going to a Weaverville comfort station. And my hotel will be in Asheville. I put the address in the GPS and I guess I put it wrong because it took me to a flooded deserted hotel.
I open the front door and stuck my head inside. There's all kinds dirt and dried muck. And said hello? No answer. I'm thinking to myself. They can't mean I'm staying here.
Across from that hotel was one in worse shape.
But the name of my hotel was Holiday inn and I found it  across the street and up a bit and it was the right one. It doesn't have fresh water. But it has electricity, No internet, does not provide bottled water or food or Continental breakfast. I do have a king room that's mighty nice.
And maybe a TV to watch tonight?. I'm heading to my work site in a church in Weaverville.
this is my workstation. There is Wi-Fi, showers, laundry, food and water here.
The church basement has been organized into a clothing donation place. They have everything sorted by size and sex, winter and summer.  They are all set up for people. I've been here a couple of hours and there's really nothing to do. I'm torn between calling my boss and saying this isn't a very busy site and move me or just relax and be mellow for my last couple of days here.
I just met my supervisor. His name is Rustam. He would like me to work from 9:30 to 12:00 at one location and then move over to this Morgan Hill Baptist Church in the afternoon from 1:00 to 6:00.   I have a paper that lists which locations have a clinic if people need medical care.  He has tasked me to spread blankets on the tables like table cloths. I think that will make a mess when people spill food on them.
But I'm not the boss.
Lunch was pulled pork and vegetables, dinner is pulled pork and beans. I hear chocolate calling me from my room.  Lovely bed. And a TV, I haven't seen tv in 10 days.  I can call transportation on the 21st to arrange transportation home.
The tv worked! First time seeing the news in a week.
