The others were not ready at 630 as agreed. I packed and moved all my stuff from building C to building B, but the door was locked. I had to call someone to come unlock the door. It's chili today but no ice on my window.
We decided to take two cars to the shelter and I thought everybody else decided to ride with the other people. When I got to the Hardee's drive-thru for breakfast I got a text saying that we left without the other girl who wasn't ready. I left the parking lot at 6:38 and the other people were in the car. Anyway, I drove back to get her and then on to the shelter. This is the before pictures of the area. This is my nursing area.
Today we meet our new shelter manager. Priorities today is getting the area cleaned up. Literally the medical stuff is piled on a table in disarray. Lots of grocery bags with miscellaneous stuff. Yesterday I asked the mental health worker, whose daughter is a public health nurse, is she had a connection for a thermometer. She brought us 5 digital ones. No covers. I called my boss to see if she can send us those as well as the nursing paperwork. She insists it is in a black plastic box labeled DHS. Can't find it here, she said she will send one but wants me to drive all the way to Walmart (40 min each way) to get some. But the nice thing was it gave me time to call Paul and have a good talk on the phone. This is the main desk area. After my Walmart run Rhonda was sent home to sleep so she can do nights. (Ugh we will have to switch off) I spent my afternoon organizing all our stuff. I got it organized in cardboard boxes but plan to get bins when I can. The shelter staff was cleaning and disassembling cots, sweeping and mopping. When I finished my stuff I started on the food stuff. Our paramedic wanted diabetic snacks. I bought some at Walmart, but discovered in the food there were so many packages of cookies they won't fit in my container.
A couple ladies from something 'fast' can't by for a bit. They are supposed to put clients into RC care. I copied a little of the clients and had her put her phone number in. I hit send. And when she didn't get it I verified her number. She did it wrong. We just made a HIPAA violation. She called the number in the phone and the person said the picture did not show up. Thank God.
Dinner arrived from Red Cross. It was awful. Canned pineapple, dry bun, and rubber chicken.
We changed shifts and went home to shower and crash.
